Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at info@takin-care-of-business.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Most consumers choose open transport because it’s the least expensive option and they don’t have vehicles that require enclosed  transportation. In Addition, there are far fewer  enclosed carriers then open carriers so consumers can get their vehicles shipped quicker.

The primary disadvantage of open transport is your vehicle is  exposed to the elements, including the weather, road elements, vandalism and theft. While  damage from the open environment is rare (think broken windshields or scratches and dents on body panels), it does happen. At the very least, your car  will arrive dirty upon delivery using the open carrier option.

Enclosed vehicle transport provides total protection from the elements.  It is the ideal option if you’re transporting a vehicle that you don’t want  exposed to the weather, road debris, vandalism or theft. Most consumers that choose  enclosed  vehicle transport have restored classic cars, rare expensive cars  (think Ferrari’s, Porsche’s, Lamborghini’s, etc.), custom motorcycles, or other high-value vehicles.

The main disadvantage to enclosed transportation is the cost. Expect to pay approximately 50% - 100% more for enclosed vs open shipping. Another disadvantage is it usually takes longer to get a  car shipped in an enclosed trailer because there aren’t as many carriers  available that offer enclosed shipping.

At the end of  the day, however, the choice between open vs enclosed vehicle transport  will depend on your transport needs and budget.
